Interpreting in booths
Using special equipment, the interpreter sitting in a soundproof booth, listens to the speaker and immediately communicates the original message in the language of destination. This type of interpreting is dynamic and free-flowing and is ideal for large audiences like congresses, symposia, courses, press conferences, European works councils, shareholders’ and board meetings, product presentations, etc.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED?
If built-in interpreting booths are not available, in a couple of hours a technician can install the necessary equipment that includes: soundproof booth, interpreting consoles, sound/mixing equipment, PA equipment with speakers, headsets and microphones.

Simultaneous
Interpreting with a Portable Interpreting System
In this type of simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter uses a portable ‘infoport’ equipment. The interpreter listens and immediately communicates the original message in the required language. This type of interpreting is dynamic and free-flowing for a small group of listeners. Unlike interpreting in a booth, the interpreter is visible during the meeting as he/she has to be close to the speaker.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED?
It is not necessary to install equipment beforehand, the ‘infoport’ portable system works with microphones and headsets for the speaker, interpreter and listeners, everything is set up a few minutes before the meeting.

3. Consecutive Interpreting
Consecutive interpreting is when the interpreter translates the speech once the speaker has finished speaking and not at the same time as in simultaneous interpreting. The interpreter takes notes during the speech to ensure a precise relay of what has been said and when the speaker pauses, the interpreter repeats the speech in the required language. This type of interpreting is mostly used for small meetings, interviews, negotiations, short press conferences, protocol and official speeches, banquets and any situation where communication in two languages is required for a short time.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED?
No specific equipment is required, just good sound so that the interpreter can hear clearly what has to be interpreted along with a stand or table where he/she can take notes and a microphone.
